La figura rappresentata appare come una Sovrana contemporanea, icona di autorità e autonomia, sospesa tra culto ancestrale e immaginario moderno. L’impostazione frontale, quasi ieratica, richiama la fermezza delle effigi sacre, mentre la ricchezza degli ornamenti trasforma il ritratto in una dichiarazione di potere visivo. La corona floreale, composta da elementi che evocano forme spirali e corolle stratificate, introduce un riferimento alla ciclicità della natura, mentre le farfalle che si posano ai margini suggeriscono metamorfosi e grazia - attributi di una leadership che non impone, ma irradia. Ma è nel lavoro sulle tessere che l’opera rivela la sua dimensione più sorprendente. Le collane che avvolgono il collo, realizzate con una precisione che solo una vera “bottega regale” può raggiungere, sembrano composte da smeraldi e diamanti autentici: le tessere verdi, con le loro iridescenze, restituiscono la profondità delle pietre preziose, mentre quelle chiare imitano la rifrazione del cristallo. È il risultato di una materia che, nelle mani dei mosaicisti SICIS, diventa qualcosa di più del suo stesso medium: una superficie viva, capace di assorbire e restituire la luce in modi imprevedibili grazie alla varietà delle sue texture, ora lisce, ora percorse da minime vibrazioni. Gli occhiali, con una montatura che pare incastonata di gemme, riaffermano la cifra della collezione e qui amplificano l’impressione di trovarsi davanti a una figura rituale: una Sovrana che non concede il suo sguardo, trasformando il volto in un emblema di controllo e centralità. Lo sfondo raggiato, costruito con tessere verdi e turchesi, accentua la sua aura magistrale, irradiando la figura come un’apparizione. Nel suo insieme, l’opera dimostra come il mosaico possa restituire non solo forme e volumi, ma una vera esperienza di splendore: quella che nasce quando la materia diventa autorità, simbolo e presenza.

The figure depicted appears as a contemporary Ruler, an icon of authority and autonomy, suspended between ancestral worship and modern imagery. The frontal, almost hieratic setting recalls the firmness of sacred effigies, while the richness of the ornaments transforms the portrait into a statement of visual power. The floral crown, composed of elements evoking spiral shapes and layered corollas, introduces a reference to the cyclical nature of life, while the butterflies resting at the edges suggest metamorphosis and grace - attributes of a leadership that does not impose, but radiates. But it is in the work on the tiles that the piece reveals its most surprising dimension. The jewels that encircle the neck, made with a precision that only a true “royal workshop” can achieve, appear to be composed of authentic emeralds and diamonds: the green tiles, with their iridescence, convey the depth of precious stones, while the clear ones mimic the refraction of crystal. This is the result of a material that, in the hands of SICIS mosaicists, becomes something more than its own medium: a living surface, capable of absorbing and reflecting light in unpredictable ways thanks to the variety of its textures, sometimes smooth, sometimes traversed by minimal vibrations. The glasses, with frames that appear to be set with gems, reaffirm the collection’s signature style and amplify the impression of being in the presence of a ritual figure: a Ruler who does not grant her gaze, transforming her face into an emblem of control and centrality. The radiant background, constructed with green and turquoise tiles, accentuates her majestic aura, making the figure shine like an apparition. Taken as a whole, the work demonstrates how mosaic can convey not only shapes and volumes, but a true experience of splendour: that which arises when matter becomes authority, symbol and presence.
