Nel sistema delle botteghe antiche, la firma del maestro non corrispondeva alla manualità esclusiva, ma alla responsabilità culturale e qualitativa dell’opera. Era una garanzia di identità estetica. Lo stesso accade oggi quando un’opera porta il nome SICIS. Dietro a ogni pannello, ritratto o superficie decorativa esiste una comunità di saperi organizzati, una grammatica condivisa, una sintassi visiva riconoscibile. Le mani che lavorano potrebbero apparire intercambiabili, ma non lo sono. Possiedono ciascuna un sapere unico, ma collaborano all’interno di un linguaggio più grande della somma delle parti. L’autore singolo viene incluso in un’identità estetica più ampia, articolata e coesa. La firma SICIS non è quindi un marchio industriale: è il sigillo di una bottega che custodisce una continuità stilistica, un modo di intendere il mosaico come materia viva. In questa prospettiva, l’autorialità si manifesta come un’intelligenza collettiva, capace di tenere insieme la sensibilità delle interpretazioni e, in ultimo, l’unità del risultato. L’opera è così il frutto di molte mani, ma di una sola visione. Come nella grande tradizione del passato, la firma diventa un atto culturale: afferma che la forza dell’opera non risiede nell’ego individuale, ma nella capacità di una comunità di produrre bellezza attraverso un sistema armonico.

In the system of ancient workshops, the master’s signature did not correspond to exclusive craftsmanship, but to cultural and qualitative responsibility for the work. It was a guarantee of aesthetic identity. The same happens today when a work bears the name SICIS. Behind every panel, portrait or decorative surface there is a community of organised knowledge, a shared grammar, a recognisable visual syntax. The hands that work may appear interchangeable, but they are not. Each possesses unique knowledge, but they collaborate within a language greater than the sum of its parts. The individual author is included in a broader, more articulated and cohesive aesthetic identity. The SICIS signature is therefore not an industrial brand: it is the seal of a workshop that preserves stylistic continuity, a coherent vision, a way of understanding mosaic as a living material. In this perspective, authorship manifests itself as a collective intelligence, capable of holding together the sensitivity of interpretations and, ultimately, the unity of the result. The work is thus the fruit of many hands, but of a single vision. As in the great tradition of the past, the signature becomes a cultural act: it affirms that the strength of the work does not lie in the individual ego, but in the ability of a community to produce beauty through a harmonious system.
